Possible Causes

Faulty flow meter or sensor, Stuck or failed dispenser switch, Loose wiring in dispenser harness, Control board input fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the household water supply to the fridge before servicing the dispenser.

Steps:

  • Check water supply: Confirm the shutoff valve is fully open and the supply line is not kinked.
  • Inspect dispenser switch: Remove the dispenser front panel (carefully prying at the edges). Check that the actuator lever properly presses the micro-switch. Listen for a click when pressed.
  • Flow meter check: The flow sensor is usually in-line with the water filter or inlet valve. Inspect connectors and ensure they are fully seated.
  • Bypass filter (if allowed): If your model supports a filter bypass plug, install it temporarily to rule out a clogged filter triggering E7. Restore a new filter afterward.
  • Replace faulty components: If the switch does not click or tests open with a multimeter when pressed, replace the dispenser switch. If wiring and switch are good but E7 persists, the flow meter or main control may need replacement.

Warning: Check for leaks after any water line reconnection. Tighten fittings only enough to stop leaks; overtightening can crack plastic parts.
