Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain, Cracked or disconnected drain tube, Loose water filter or housing, Leaking water inlet line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply if a water line leak is suspected.
Steps:
- Identify source: Pull the unit forward and inspect underneath and behind while someone pours a small amount of water into the freezer drain trough (if accessible). Watch where it exits.
- Clear defrost drain: Access the drain hole under the evaporator (behind the freezer rear panel). Use warm water and a turkey baster or squeeze bottle to flush the drain until water flows freely to the drain pan.
- Check drain tube: At the back, locate the drain tube leading to the pan. Ensure it is not kinked, blocked, or disconnected.
- Inspect water connections: Check the water filter, inlet valve, and supply line fittings for drips. Tighten or replace fittings as needed.
- Replace damaged parts: If the drain tube is cracked or the filter housing leaks, replace the affected component.
Warning: Dry any standing water promptly to prevent mold and floor damage.
