Display shows E1 and refrigerator compartment temperature is inaccurate or fluctuates.

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal wiring or panels.

• 1. Locate the refrigerator thermistor: In most Avanti refrigerators, the fresh food thermistor is behind a small plastic cover on the rear interior wall or near the air vent from the freezer.
• 2. Visual inspection: Remove the cover and inspect the small sensor (usually a bullet-shaped probe). Check for broken wires, corrosion, or signs of moisture damage.
• 3. Check resistance: Disconnect the thermistor from its harness. Using a multimeter set to kΩ, measure resistance at room temperature (around 77°F / 25°C). Typical NTC thermistors read about 5k–10kΩ at room temp (consult service sheet if available). A reading of 0Ω (short) or OL (open) indicates a bad sensor.
• 4. Inspect harness and connector: Follow the wires to the control board area. Ensure the connector is fully seated and not oxidized. Clean light corrosion with contact cleaner.
• 5. Replace if faulty: If readings are out of range or intermittent when you gently wiggle the wires, replace the refrigerator thermistor. Route the new sensor along the original path and secure it in the clip so it does not touch the evaporator directly.
• 6. Reset: Reassemble, plug in, and allow 12–24 hours for temperatures to stabilize after clearing the E1 code.
