Possible Causes
Failed door switch, Misaligned door not actuating switch, Broken switch wiring, Control board door input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing switch assemblies.
- 1. Locate door switch: The switch is usually in the door frame near the top or side, activated when the door closes.
- 2. Check mechanical action: Press the switch plunger by hand. It should move freely and click. If stuck or loose, it may not signal correctly.
- 3. Test continuity: Remove the switch (often pried out gently with a flat tool). Disconnect wires and test with a multimeter. The switch should change from open to closed when pressed.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Look for broken or pulled wires behind the switch opening. Repair any damage with proper connectors.
- 5. Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes fully and contacts the switch. Adjust door hinges if the door is sagging and missing the switch.
- 6. Replace if faulty: Install a new door switch if it fails continuity tests. Reconnect wires and snap the switch back into place.
- 7. If E7 persists: The control board door input circuit may be defective, requiring main control board replacement.
