Ice buildup only on the back wall of the freezer behind the panel, airflow reduced and temperatures rising.

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator. The defrost heater circuit is high voltage.

• 1. Manually defrost: Remove freezer contents and rear panel. Melt all ice from the evaporator using a hair dryer on low, keeping it moving to avoid damage.
• 2. Test defrost heater: Disconnect heater leads and check continuity with a multimeter. Replace the defrost heater if open.
• 3. Test defrost thermostat: While cold, the thermostat should show continuity. If open when cold, replace the defrost thermostat.
• 4. Inspect wiring: Look for burnt or broken wires around the heater and thermostat. Repair as needed.
• 5. Control board: If heater and thermostat are good, the main control board may not be initiating defrost cycles and may need replacement.
