Refrigerator not cooling at all, both freezer and fresh food sections warm, interior lights work but compressor is silent.

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing rear components. High voltage is present at the compressor terminals.

• 1. Listen and observe: Plug in and listen for any humming or clicking from the compressor area. A repeated click every few minutes suggests start relay/overload issues.
• 2. Check condenser fan: If the rear fan does not run at all, the unit may not be getting a run signal from the control board.
• 3. Test thermostat/control: For mechanical thermostat models, turn the dial from OFF to coldest and listen for a click. If no click and no compressor operation, the thermostat may be faulty.
• 4. Inspect start relay and overload: Remove the rear access panel, take off the compressor terminal cover, and inspect the relay/overload for burns or rattling pieces. Replace the compressor start relay and overload if damaged or if continuity tests fail.
• 5. Check compressor windings: With all power off and components removed, measure resistance between compressor pins and to ground. A short to ground or open winding indicates a failed compressor, which requires professional sealed-system service.
• 6. If compressor and start parts are good: The main control board or mechanical thermostat may not be sending power. Replace the faulty control component after verifying wiring.
