Long Run Time / Poor Cooling Efficiency
Refrigerator runs constantly and never shuts off, but temperatures are near normal or slightly warm.

Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coils, Failing door gaskets, Warm room/poor ventilation, Low refrigerant charge or weak compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning coils or working near the compressor.
- 1. Clean condenser coils: Pull the unit away from the wall. Use a coil brush and vacuum to remove dust and pet hair from the coils at the back or underneath. Improved airflow can significantly reduce run time.
- 2. Check door seals: Close each door on a sheet of paper and gently pull. If the paper slides out easily, the door gasket may be leaking. Inspect for tears, warping, or gaps.
- 3. Verify ventilation: Ensure there is at least a few inches of clearance behind and above the unit. Do not enclose it tightly in cabinetry without proper vents.
- 4. Temperature settings: Set controls to the recommended mid-range settings. Extremely cold settings can cause continuous running.
- 5. If still running constantly: Feel the side walls; if they are very hot and the compressor runs but cooling is weak, the sealed system may be undercharged or the compressor weak. This requires a professional sealed-system technician.
