Possible Causes
Low refrigerant charge (leak), Partially blocked capillary tube, Weak compressor, Condenser coil heavily clogged
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself. High pressure and refrigerant require certified handling.
- Check door sealing: Ensure the freezer door gasket is sealing all around. Look for gaps, torn rubber, or dirt preventing closure.
- Clean condenser coils: Unplug the fridge. Access the rear or bottom where the condenser coils are located. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint. Improved airflow can significantly enhance cooling.
- Verify ventilation space: Make sure the fridge is not pushed tightly against the wall and that warm air can escape from the back and top.
- Check for frost pattern: If accessible, remove the inner freezer rear panel (unplug first). A normal system shows a light, even frost over most of the evaporator. If only a small section frosts or there is no frost at all while the compressor runs, this suggests a sealed system issue.
- Do not attempt DIY refrigerant charging: Refrigerant leaks, compressor replacement, or capillary blockages must be diagnosed and repaired by a certified refrigeration technician with proper tools.
