Possible Causes
Faulty refrigerator temperature sensor (NTC), Stuck thermostat, Control board misreading sensor, Incorrect temperature setting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before accessing control panels or sensors.
- Verify settings: Check the temperature setting on the control panel. Set the fridge to around +4 °C and freezer to about -18 °C. Avoid the coldest setting unless necessary.
- Check sensor placement: Ensure that the temperature sensor (often a small probe on the rear wall) is not directly in the path of cold air from the freezer vent or covered by frozen food.
- Reset control: Turn the appliance off (or unplug) for 5 minutes, then restore power to reset the electronics.
- Monitor temperature: Place a fridge thermometer on a middle shelf away from vents. Check after 12 hours. If temperature remains below 0 °C despite moderate settings, the sensor or control may be faulty.
- Sensor replacement: On many Bauknecht models, the NTC sensor can be accessed from inside the compartment or behind the rear panel. Carefully remove the cover, disconnect the old sensor, and install a matching replacement.
- If problem persists: A defective main control board or mechanical thermostat (on older models) may require professional replacement.
