Possible Causes
Condenser fan motor failure (for models with fan), Severely clogged condenser coils, Fridge installed in very hot environment, Condenser fan blade obstruction
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before working at the rear or bottom. Moving parts and live wiring can be hazardous.
- Check installation: Ensure the fridge is not built into a tight cabinet without proper ventilation. Follow Bauknecht clearance recommendations in the user manual.
- Inspect condenser fan: Remove the rear lower panel. If your model has a condenser fan near the compressor, check if it spins freely by hand and is free of dust and debris.
- Clean coils and fan: Use a soft brush and vacuum to clean the condenser coils and fan blades thoroughly.
- Test fan operation: With the rear panel still off, plug the fridge in and observe (keep hands clear). The fan should run when the compressor runs. If it does not, unplug again and check the fan connector.
- Replace fan if faulty: If the fan is seized or does not run despite proper connection, replace the condenser fan motor assembly.
- Reassemble and monitor: Refit the rear panel and allow 12–24 hours for temperatures to stabilize.
- If overheating persists: A weak compressor or sealed system issue may be present and requires professional service.
