Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain, Cracked drain tube, Misaligned drain pan, Excessive condensation from door gasket leak
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing panels or working near electrical parts. Mop up any standing water to prevent slipping.
- Identify leak source: Check if water appears at the front, under the crisper drawers, or at the back.
- Clear defrost drain: Inside the freezer, locate the drain hole at the bottom rear (may be under a panel). If it is iced over, pour warm water into it using a turkey baster until water flows freely to the drain pan.
- Clean drain tube: From the rear, locate the drain tube leading to the pan. Remove and flush it with warm water to clear debris.
- Check drain pan: Ensure the pan is correctly positioned on the compressor area and not cracked or overflowing.
- Inspect door gaskets: Damaged gaskets can cause excess moisture. Clean them and check for tears or gaps; replace if necessary.
