Possible Causes
Open or shorted fridge NTC sensor,Loose or damaged sensor wiring harness,Corroded connector at control board,Faulty main control board reading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before accessing internal panels.
Step-by-step:
- Confirm symptom: Place a fridge thermometer in the middle shelf and compare the reading to the display. Large differences support a sensor issue.
- Locate the sensor: Inside the fridge compartment, look for a small plastic cover or vent grille on the rear or side wall. This usually houses the NTC sensor.
- Access the sensor: Remove shelves as needed. Gently pry off or unscrew the sensor cover. Inspect the sensor and wiring for moisture, ice buildup, or damage.
- Check connections: Ensure the sensor plug is fully seated. Look for corrosion or broken wires. Dry any condensation with a cloth.
- Defrost if iced: If the sensor area is encased in ice, unplug the fridge and leave doors open for several hours or use a fan to speed defrost (do not use sharp tools or heat guns).
- Replace sensor if needed: If wiring is intact but E1 persists, replace the refrigerator NTC sensor with a compatible Beko part. Route the new sensor along the original path and secure it away from moving parts.
Note: If a new sensor does not clear E1, the main control board may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
