Possible Causes
Corrupted control board firmware, Power surge damage, Faulty main PCB memory chip
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before accessing the control board.
Steps to address E12:
- 1. Extended power reset: Unplug the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge fully. Plug back in and see if E12 clears.
- 2. Surge protection: If the error followed a power cut or surge, consider using a surge-protected outlet to prevent recurrence.
- 3. Inspect control board: Remove the rear PCB cover and visually inspect the board for burnt components or bulging capacitors.
- 4. Replace control board: EEPROM faults are rarely repairable in the field. Replace the main control board with a Belling-compatible part, transferring any jumper settings as per service documentation.
Note: Board replacement should be done by a competent person to avoid damage or incorrect wiring.
