Possible Causes
Failed freezer NTC sensor, Damaged or iced-over sensor, Broken or loose wiring harness, Faulty main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from the mains before removing panels or touching wiring.
Steps to address E2:
- 1. Basic reset: Unplug for 5–10 minutes and reconnect. If E2 returns, proceed with checks.
- 2. Locate the freezer sensor: It is usually clipped to the freezer evaporator or mounted on the rear or side wall behind a plastic cover. Remove drawers and the rear inner panel if necessary.
- 3. Check for ice buildup: If the sensor is encased in ice, defrost the freezer fully (24 hours with doors open and towels to catch water). After defrosting, power back on and see if E2 clears.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Look for damaged insulation, corroded connectors, or pulled wires. Reseat the connector at the sensor and at the main PCB.
- 5. Test the sensor: With power off, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to expected NTC values (often around 5–15 kΩ at typical freezer temperatures). Open or short readings indicate a bad sensor.
- 6. Replace if necessary: Install a new Belling-compatible freezer NTC sensor, routing the cable as originally and securing it away from moving parts or sharp edges.
- 7. Control board check: If the sensor and wiring are good but E2 persists, the main control board may be defective and should be checked or replaced by a professional.
