Display shows E3 and the refrigerator struggles to cool properly or runs continuously.

Safety first: Always unplug the refrigerator before removing internal panels or handling wiring.

Steps to address E3:

• 1. Full manual defrost: Turn off and unplug the appliance. Leave doors open for 24 hours with towels to absorb water. This clears heavy ice that may be affecting the sensor.
• 2. Access the evaporator area: Remove shelves/drawers and the rear inner panel of the affected compartment (usually the freezer). The defrost/evaporator sensor is clipped to the evaporator tubing or nearby.
• 3. Inspect the sensor: Ensure it is firmly clipped to the evaporator and not hanging loose. Check for physical damage or corrosion.
• 4. Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires back towards the cabinet and main PCB. Look for cuts, pinches, or loose connectors. Reseat any plugs.
• 5. Test the sensor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to expected NTC values. A reading of infinite resistance or near zero indicates failure.
• 6. Replace the sensor if faulty: Fit a new Belling-compatible defrost/evaporator sensor, clipping it in the same position on the evaporator for accurate readings.
• 7. If E3 persists: If the new sensor and wiring are good, the control board may not be reading the sensor correctly. Professional diagnosis and possible PCB replacement are recommended.
