Refrigerator display shows E6 and the compressor may not start or may run erratically.

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing any control covers.

Steps to address E6:

• 1. Power cycle: Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect. Sometimes communication errors clear after a full reset.
• 2. Access control boards: Remove the top control housing or rear PCB cover (depending on model). Take care not to damage plastic clips.
• 3. Inspect wiring harness: Locate the multi-core cable linking the display/control panel to the main PCB. Check for pinched, cut, or burnt wires.
• 4. Reseat connectors: Gently unplug and replug the connectors at both ends of the harness. Ensure they latch fully and pins are not bent or corroded.
• 5. Check for moisture: Look for signs of condensation or liquid ingress around the display panel. If present, dry thoroughly and identify the source of moisture (e.g., door gasket leaks).
• 6. Replace suspect board or harness: If the harness is damaged, replace it. If E6 persists and wiring is sound, either the display board or main PCB may be defective. Board-level diagnosis is best left to a professional.

Note: Do not attempt to repair PCBs at component level unless you are qualified; replacement is the usual remedy.
