Possible Causes
Failed mechanical door switch, Faulty magnetic reed sensor, Misaligned door or magnet, Broken wiring to door switch, Faulty control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before removing switch housings.
Steps to address E7:
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and is not obstructed by shelves, food, or warped gaskets. A door that does not close can mimic a switch fault.
- 2. Locate the door switch/sensor: It may be a push-button in the frame or a hidden magnetic sensor near the top or side of the cabinet.
- 3. Test operation: With power on, press the mechanical switch by hand; the interior light should turn on/off. For magnetic sensors, move a magnet near the sensor area and observe changes in light or alarm.
- 4. Inspect and clean: Remove any dirt or ice around the switch. For mechanical switches, gently pull them out of the liner and check for broken terminals or loose wires.
- 5. Electrical test (if competent): With power off, disconnect the switch and check continuity while pressing/releasing it. It should open and close reliably.
- 6. Replace faulty switch/sensor: Install a new Belling-compatible door switch or sensor. Ensure the door magnet (if used) is correctly positioned in the door frame.
- 7. If E7 persists: The control board input circuit may be faulty; professional diagnosis is recommended.
