Refrigerator shows E1 and fresh food compartment temperature is incorrect (too warm or too cold).
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.

Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
Access the refrigerator sensor:
- Locate the sensor in the fresh food compartment (often behind a small plastic cover on the rear wall or near the light housing).
- Remove the cover using a screwdriver or by releasing clips.
- Visually inspect the sensor and wiring for damage, moisture, or corrosion.
- Unplug and replug the sensor connector to ensure a solid connection.
Basic functional check:
- With power still off, gently tug the wire harness to ensure it is not broken inside the insulation.
- If you have a multimeter and the service specs, measure the sensor resistance at room temperature. A reading far outside the specified range indicates a bad sensor.
Temporary workaround: If the unit still cools but over- or under-cools, set the temperature to a mid-range setting and monitor food temperature with a fridge thermometer until the sensor can be replaced.
Note: If wiring and sensor appear intact but E1 persists, the control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and may need replacement.
