Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the compressor area. Compressor circuits carry mains voltage.

Steps to check:

1. Listen for sounds: If you hear a repeated clicking from the back every few minutes, the compressor is trying and failing to start.
2. Access the compressor: Remove the rear lower cover to expose the compressor and start components.
3. Inspect start relay/PTC: Remove the relay from the compressor terminals. If it rattles when shaken or shows burn marks, replace it.
4. Check for overheating: Carefully touch the compressor shell (it may be hot). If extremely hot, allow it to cool before further tests.
5. After replacing relay: Reassemble, plug in, and monitor. If the compressor still fails to start or overheats, the compressor itself or control board may be faulty.

Important: Compressor replacement and sealed system work must be done by a certified refrigeration technician.
