Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coils causing fan strain,Loose condenser fan mounting,Compressor mounting grommets worn,Refrigerator touching wall or cabinets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning coils or touching the fan.
Steps to reduce buzzing:
- 1. Pull unit away from wall: Ensure at least a few centimeters of clearance at the back and sides.
- 2. Clean condenser coils: Use a coil brush and vacuum to remove dust from the condenser. Improved airflow can reduce fan load and noise.
- 3. Check fan mounts: Tighten any loose screws on the fan shroud or motor bracket.
- 4. Inspect compressor mounts: Verify that rubber grommets under the compressor are intact. Replace if cracked or missing.
- 5. Reposition lines: Ensure no metal lines are touching the cabinet and vibrating.
Note: Some compressor hum is normal, but sudden increases in noise may indicate developing issues.
