Possible Causes
Failed mechanical door switch,Magnetic reed sensor failure,Loose or damaged door switch wiring,Control board input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing door switch assemblies or working with wiring.
Steps to troubleshoot E10:
- 1. Check door behavior: Verify if interior lights turn on/off correctly when opening and closing the door. Also check if fans stop when the door is open (on some models).
- 2. Locate the switch: The door switch is usually in the door frame or ceiling of the compartment. Gently pry it out with a plastic tool.
- 3. Inspect and test: Check for broken tabs, corrosion, or stuck plungers. With the unit unplugged, test continuity across the switch terminals while pressing and releasing the plunger. Replace if readings are inconsistent.
- 4. Magnetic sensor models: If your model uses a magnetic reed sensor, ensure the door magnet is present and aligned. Replace the sensor if it does not change state when the magnet is near.
- 5. Wiring and board: Confirm the harness from the switch to the control board is intact. If the switch and wiring are good but E10 persists, the board input may be defective.
Note: A faulty door switch can also cause temperature issues because fans and lights may not operate as designed.
