Display shows E13 and the refrigerator may not enter or exit defrost correctly

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the control board compartment.

Steps to address E13:

• 1. Power reset: Disconnect power for at least 10–15 minutes to fully discharge the control board. Reconnect and observe if E13 returns.
• 2. Check for other errors: If E3 or E4 are also present, resolve sensor or heater issues first, as they can trigger defrost logic errors.
• 3. Inspect control board: Access the main PCB (often at the rear or top). Look for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or signs of moisture damage.
• 4. Verify wiring: Ensure all defrost-related connectors (heater, sensors) are firmly seated on the board.
• 5. Replace control board: If visual inspection suggests damage or if E13 persists after other components are verified, the main board likely needs replacement. This should be done by a qualified technician to ensure correct programming and safe handling.

Note: A malfunctioning defrost control can cause either heavy ice buildup or overheating, so do not ignore this error.
