Refrigerator shows E2 and may run continuously or shut down cooling unexpectedly
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Always unplug the refrigerator before opening any control panel or touching wiring.
How to address E2:
- 1. Locate the ambient sensor: On many Bompani models, the ambient sensor is near the display/control panel or behind the top front trim. Remove the control panel cover carefully to access it.
- 2. Check mounting and cleanliness: Ensure the sensor is not covered by dust or insulation and is exposed to room air. Clean gently with a dry cloth if dirty.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Look for pinched, cut, or discolored wires. Confirm the connector is fully seated on both the sensor and the control board.
- 4. Test resistance: With power disconnected, unplug the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to the expected NTC range (commonly 5–20 kΩ). Replace the sensor if readings are open, shorted, or wildly out of range.
- 5. Replace control board if needed: If a known-good sensor still results in E2, the control board may be defective. Replacement should be done by a qualified technician due to mains voltage exposure and configuration requirements.
Note: A faulty ambient sensor can cause incorrect compressor run times and poor temperature control, so do not ignore this error.
