Display shows E5 and the refrigerator may not respond correctly to user temperature settings

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing the control panel or touching internal wiring.

Steps to address E5:

• 1. Power cycle: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E5 clears temporarily, the issue may be intermittent connection or moisture.
• 2. Access the control panel: Remove the trim and screws holding the display/control panel. Carefully pull it forward to expose the ribbon cable or wiring harness.
• 3. Inspect connectors: Check that the ribbon cable is fully seated and not damaged. Look for corrosion or signs of water ingress around the panel.
• 4. Dry the area: If condensation or spills have reached the panel, allow it to dry completely (24 hours with power disconnected). Do not use direct heat.
• 5. Reseat or replace cable: Disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable several times to clean contacts. If the cable is cracked or torn, replace it.
• 6. Replace faulty boards: If connections are good but E5 persists, either the UI board or main control board may be defective. Replacement should be done by a technician to ensure correct part selection and safe installation.

Note: Operating the refrigerator with a faulty UI can lead to incorrect temperatures or inability to adjust settings.
