Possible Causes
Frozen water line in refrigerator door,Dispenser switch or lever failure,Dispenser lock function enabled,Faulty dispenser solenoid or valve section
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and close the water supply valve before working on the dispenser.
Steps:
- 1. Check control lock: Ensure the dispenser is not locked via the control panel settings.
- 2. Listen for valve click: Press the dispenser lever and listen at the back for a click from the water valve. No click suggests a switch or control issue.
- 3. Inspect door line: On models with water through the door, the line can freeze. Open the door and feel the area around the dispenser for cold spots. Thaw by leaving the door open (with fridge unplugged) or gently warming the area.
- 4. Test switch: With power disconnected, test continuity of the dispenser lever switch when pressed. Replace if faulty.
- 5. Valve section: If the valve does not energize for dispensing but works for ice, the dispenser coil or wiring may be defective and require replacement.
Note: Avoid using hair dryers too close to plastic parts to prevent warping.
