Possible Causes

Failed refrigerator NTC sensor, Loose sensor connection, Broken sensor harness, Defective control board input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing covers or handling wiring.

Steps to troubleshoot:

  • Check temperature settings and load: Confirm the fridge is not overpacked and that vents are clear. Reset temperature to recommended settings.
  • Locate the fridge sensor: It is usually behind a small plastic cover on the rear interior wall or ceiling of the fresh food compartment.
  • Inspect visually: Remove the cover, check for moisture intrusion, corrosion, or broken wires at the sensor.
  • Test the sensor (if possible): Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature. Compare to Bosch specifications (commonly 5–15 kΩ at 25°C). Infinite or zero resistance indicates failure.
  • Replace sensor: If faulty, unclip or unscrew the sensor, route the new sensor harness along the same path, and reconnect firmly to the main harness.
  • Reset the control: After replacement, unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then power back on to clear the error.

When to seek service: If the sensor tests good but E03 persists, the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a professional.
