Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing control panels or handling wiring.
Steps:
- Check installation location: Ensure the refrigerator is not installed in extreme temperatures (e.g., unheated garage below 50°F/10°C or in direct sunlight). Bosch units rely on ambient readings for proper operation.
- Locate ambient sensor: On many Bosch models, this sensor is near the front grille, behind the control panel, or in the top hinge area.
- Inspect wiring: Look for pinched, cut, or disconnected wires. Reseat connectors at both the sensor and control board.
- Test sensor (if equipped to do so): Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to Bosch NTC specs. Replace if open, shorted, or far out of range.
- Reset control: After any repair, unplug for 5 minutes and restore power to clear the error.
Service note: If the sensor and wiring are intact but E05 persists, the main control board may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
