Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice buildup around fan blades, Obstructed air ducts, Faulty fan wiring or control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the freezer interior panels.

Steps:

  • Listen for fan: With the door closed for several minutes, then opened, you should hear the evaporator fan running (it may stop when the door opens on some models). No sound can indicate a fan issue.
  • Check for frost: Remove freezer drawers and the rear panel. Look for heavy ice buildup around the fan or evaporator. If present, perform a full manual defrost (12–24 hours unplugged) and investigate defrost system issues.
  • Inspect fan: Spin the fan blades gently by hand. They should move freely without rubbing. If stiff or noisy, the motor is likely failing.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the fan connector is secure and wires are not damaged.
  • Replace fan motor: Remove mounting screws, disconnect the harness, and install a new Bosch evaporator fan motor, routing wires as originally.

Note: If the fan is good but not receiving power, the control board or door switch logic may be at fault and should be checked by a technician.
