Possible Causes
Faulty ice maker fill valve, Defective ice maker water level sensor, Low water pressure, Clogged inlet screen
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water supply and unplug the refrigerator before servicing the ice maker or valve.
Steps:
- Check water pressure: Ensure household water pressure is at least 20–40 psi. Very low pressure can cause fill errors.
- Inspect inlet screen: Disconnect the water line at the rear inlet valve and check the small screen for debris. Clean gently if clogged.
- Check ice maker fill tube: Look for ice blockage in the fill tube above the ice maker. Clear with warm water if frozen.
- Observe fill cycle: After restoring power and water, run an ice maker test (per manual). Watch the fill; it should run for a few seconds and stop. Continuous flow or no flow indicates valve or sensor issues.
- Replace components as needed: If the valve leaks when not energized, replace the water inlet valve. If the valve is good but fill levels are incorrect, replace the ice maker assembly.
