Refrigerator display shows E0 and cooling performance is reduced or intermittent

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing any panels. Use insulated tools and avoid touching live terminals.

Step 1 – Power reset:

• Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet for at least 5 minutes.
• Inspect the power cord and outlet for burn marks or looseness.
• Plug back in and check if E0 clears. If it does not return, it may have been a transient power glitch.

Step 2 – Check temperature sensors (thermistors):

• Remove the inner plastic cover in the fresh food compartment to access the air sensor (usually clipped to the liner or behind a small grill).
• Visually inspect the sensor and wiring for damage, corrosion, or ice buildup.
• If you have a multimeter, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature (typically 5–20 kΩ depending on model). An open circuit or 0 Ω indicates a failed sensor.
• Replace the thermistor if readings are far outside the service manual range or if it is physically damaged.

Step 3 – Inspect wiring harness:

• With power unplugged, remove the rear lower panel to access the main control board area.
• Check all connectors for loose plugs, bent pins, or signs of moisture.
• Firmly reseat each connector one at a time.

Step 4 – Control board evaluation:

• If E0 persists after sensor and wiring checks, the main PCB may be misreading inputs.
• Look for burnt components or swollen capacitors on the board (do not touch the board when powered).
• If damage is visible or the error persists, replacement of the main control board is recommended. This is typically a level‑4/5 repair; consider a professional if you are not experienced with electronics.
