How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the household water supply before disconnecting any water lines.

Step 1 – Check water supply:

  • Verify that the shutoff valve to the refrigerator is fully open.
  • Inspect the supply line for kinks or crushing.

Step 2 – Replace or bypass water filter:

  • If the filter is older than 6 months, replace it with a compatible Brandt filter.
  • After replacement, run several liters of water through the dispenser to purge air.

Step 3 – Test water inlet valve:

  • Access the valve at the rear bottom of the refrigerator.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors and measure coil resistance; an open coil indicates failure.
  • Check for debris in the valve inlet screen and clean if necessary.

Step 4 – Replace faulty valve or sensor:

  • Order the correct water inlet valve and/or flow sensor for your model.
  • Label and disconnect water lines, then remove the old valve.
  • Install the new valve, reconnect lines and wiring, and ensure all fittings are tight.
  • Turn water back on and check for leaks.
  • Restore power and verify that E12 clears and dispenser operation is normal.
