Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the household water supply before disconnecting any water lines.
Step 1 – Check water supply:
- Verify that the shutoff valve to the refrigerator is fully open.
- Inspect the supply line for kinks or crushing.
Step 2 – Replace or bypass water filter:
- If the filter is older than 6 months, replace it with a compatible Brandt filter.
- After replacement, run several liters of water through the dispenser to purge air.
Step 3 – Test water inlet valve:
- Access the valve at the rear bottom of the refrigerator.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and measure coil resistance; an open coil indicates failure.
- Check for debris in the valve inlet screen and clean if necessary.
Step 4 – Replace faulty valve or sensor:
- Order the correct water inlet valve and/or flow sensor for your model.
- Label and disconnect water lines, then remove the old valve.
- Install the new valve, reconnect lines and wiring, and ensure all fittings are tight.
- Turn water back on and check for leaks.
- Restore power and verify that E12 clears and dispenser operation is normal.
