Possible Causes
Failed ambient thermistor, Sensor dislodged from correct location, Wiring damage near top or rear of cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before removing any covers.
Step 1 – Locate ambient sensor:
- On many Brandt models, the ambient sensor is located behind the top front trim or near the condenser area.
- Remove the top cover or control housing screws to access it.
Step 2 – Inspect and test:
- Check that the sensor is not touching hot components (like the condenser) and is properly positioned to sense room air.
- Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter; compare to expected values for room temperature.
- Replace if open, shorted, or clearly out of range.
Step 3 – Refit and test:
- Install the new sensor in the same location, away from heat sources.
- Reconnect wiring, reassemble covers, and restore power.
- Verify that E7 clears and that the unit cycles normally.
