Possible Causes
Loose water line connection at rear, Cracked water filter housing, Leaking water inlet valve, Frozen or split internal water line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the household water supply to the unit before inspecting for leaks. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination.
- 1. Locate the source of water: Pull the refrigerator away from the wall and inspect the floor, rear area, and under the front for signs of water.
- 2. Check rear water connections: Inspect the water supply line connection to the refrigerator inlet valve. Tighten the compression nut slightly if it is damp, but do not overtighten.
- 3. Inspect water filter and housing: Remove the Café water filter and check the O-rings. Replace the filter if damaged. Look for cracks in the filter head or housing.
- 4. Examine the water inlet valve: Look for drips from the plastic valve body or attached tubing. Any visible crack or continuous drip indicates the valve should be replaced.
- 5. Dry and monitor: Thoroughly dry the area, restore water and power, and monitor for new leaks. Place a paper towel under suspect fittings to detect slow drips.
- 6. If leak persists: Internal tubing or the dispenser line may be damaged and require professional disassembly and replacement.
