Possible Causes
Fresh food thermistor out of calibration, Stuck air damper open, Main control board not cycling compressor properly, UI temperature set too low or miscalibrated
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing thermistors or control boards.
- 1. Verify temperature settings: Ensure the fresh food is set around 37°F (3°C) and freezer around 0°F (-18°C). Adjust if set too low.
- 2. Check for frozen items near vents: Items directly in front of cold air vents may freeze. Move them away and monitor.
- 3. Inspect thermistor placement: Locate the fresh food thermistor and ensure it is properly clipped to the liner or bracket, not touching extremely cold surfaces.
- 4. Test thermistor: Measure resistance at a known temperature and compare to specifications. Replace if out of range.
- 5. Evaluate damper: If the damper is stuck open, excessive cold air will enter the fresh food section. Replace the damper assembly if it does not respond to control changes.
