Possible Causes
Clogged or expired Café water filter, Frozen water line in door, Faulty dispenser switch or paddle, Failed water inlet valve dispenser coil
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any water lines. Unplug the refrigerator before accessing electrical components.
- 1. Check water supply: Confirm the household shutoff valve is fully open and the supply line is not kinked.
- 2. Replace water filter: Install a new genuine Café/GE filter. After replacement, run 1–2 gallons of water to purge air.
- 3. Test dispenser switch: Press the dispenser paddle and listen for a click and the sound of the inlet valve energizing. No sound may indicate a bad switch or control.
- 4. Check for frozen line: If the freezer is very cold, the line in the door may freeze. Raise freezer temperature slightly and leave the door open for short periods to thaw, or gently warm the dispenser area.
- 5. Inspect inlet valve: At the rear, locate the water inlet valve. If ice is being made but no water dispenses, the dispenser coil on the valve may have failed and require replacement.
