Possible Causes
Blocked defrost drain tube, Ice buildup in drain trough, Cracked drain funnel, Loose internal water line connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing shelves or panels. Water on the floor can be slippery; wipe spills promptly.
- 1. Locate source: Remove drawers and inspect the rear wall and bottom of the fresh food and freezer sections for water trails.
- 2. Clear defrost drain: In the freezer, remove the rear panel to access the drain trough. Use warm water to flush the drain hole until it flows freely into the drain pan under the unit.
- 3. Remove ice from trough: Melt any ice blocking the trough with warm (not boiling) water and a turkey baster.
- 4. Inspect drain tube: From the rear, locate the rubber drain tube leading to the drain pan. Ensure it is not kinked or clogged.
- 5. Check internal water lines: If the leak appears near the filter or dispenser lines, inspect for loose push-fit connections and reseat as needed.
