Possible Causes
Open-circuit freezer NTC sensor, Shorted freezer NTC sensor, Damaged sensor harness in freezer wall, Faulty main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the appliance from mains power before any disassembly.
Diagnosis steps:
- 1. Confirm the symptom: Check if the freezer is over-freezing or not freezing properly while E2 is displayed.
- 2. Access the freezer sensor: Remove freezer drawers and the rear internal panel (evaporator cover). The freezer NTC is usually clipped to the evaporator tubing or mounted in a small plastic housing on the rear wall.
- 3. Visual inspection: Look for ice buildup around the sensor, broken clips, or damaged wiring. Carefully defrost any heavy ice with the appliance unplugged (do not use sharp tools).
- 4. Electrical test: Unplug the sensor connector and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, it should be in the several kΩ range. Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a failed sensor.
- 5. Replace the sensor: Fit a new CDA freezer compartment NTC sensor, routing the cable along the original path and securing it away from sharp metal edges. Refit the evaporator cover and drawers.
- 6. Check wiring and PCB if sensor is OK: If the sensor measures correctly, inspect the harness from the freezer to the main PCB for damage. If wiring is intact, the control PCB may be faulty and should be checked or replaced by a professional.
Note: After replacement, leave the fridge running for several hours to stabilize and confirm that E2 does not reappear.
