Possible Causes

Faulty ice maker position sensor, Jammed ice maker mechanism, Broken ice maker wiring, Faulty ice control module on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Switch off and unplug the refrigerator before working around the ice maker assembly.

Steps:

  • 1. Inspect the ice maker: Remove the ice bucket and visually inspect the ice maker for jammed cubes, broken plastic parts, or heavy ice buildup.
  • 2. Manually reset: Some CDA ice makers have a small reset button or a manual test lever. With power restored briefly, press the reset/test button as per the user manual, then disconnect power again before further work.
  • 3. Check the harness: Remove the ice maker cover and inspect the wiring harness and connector for damage or corrosion.
  • 4. Replace the ice maker assembly if jammed or sensor-failed: If the mechanism is cracked, seized, or the position sensor is integrated and faulty, replace the complete CDA ice maker assembly.
  • 5. PCB diagnosis: If a new ice maker does not clear E8, the ice control circuit on the main PCB may be defective and should be checked by a technician.

Note: Ensure water supply pressure is correct and the fill tube is not frozen, as this can also cause ice maker issues even after clearing E8.
