Possible Causes
Failed electronic control board, Faulty temperature control thermostat (on mechanical models), Broken wiring to compressor, Tripped thermal cut-out
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing control panels or the rear compressor area.
Steps:
- 1. Listen for compressor: If there is no humming or vibration from the compressor over several minutes, it is not being powered.
- 2. Check thermostat setting: On CDA models with a mechanical thermostat knob, ensure it is not set to OFF or 0.
- 3. Inspect main PCB: Access the control board (often behind a top/front panel or rear cover). Look for burnt components or swollen capacitors.
- 4. Wiring check: At the compressor, ensure the harness is firmly connected and not burnt.
- 5. Replace faulty control: If the thermostat or PCB is clearly defective, replace with a compatible CDA thermostat or CDA main control PCB. This may require a professional if live voltage testing is needed.
Note: If the compressor is extremely hot to touch and not running, the start device or compressor itself may be at fault instead.
