Possible Causes
Loose compressor mounting bolts, Contact between pipes and cabinet, Loose internal components in compressor (age-related)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before working at the rear.
Steps:
- 1. Check mounting bolts: Ensure the compressor mounting bolts are snug but not overtightened, and that rubber grommets are present.
- 2. Adjust pipework: Gently bend any copper pipes that are touching each other or the cabinet to create a small clearance.
- 3. Rear cover: Make sure the rear cover is firmly attached and not vibrating.
- 4. Monitor: Some mild clunking at start/stop can be normal, but if it worsens, have a technician inspect the compressor.
Warning: Do not kink or sharply bend refrigerant pipes; this can cause leaks.
