Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole, Ice plug in drain channel, Food debris blocking drain tube, Misaligned drain funnel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before working inside to avoid contact with live parts.
Steps:
- 1. Locate the drain hole: At the back of the fridge compartment, just above the bottom, there is usually a small drain hole or channel.
- 2. Clear visible debris: Use a cotton bud or soft brush to remove any food particles or slime from the drain opening.
- 3. Flush the drain: Using a turkey baster or syringe, gently flush warm (not boiling) water into the drain to melt any ice and push debris through the tube to the rear drip tray.
- 4. Check rear drip tray: At the back of the appliance, ensure the condensate tray above the compressor is correctly positioned and not overflowing.
- 5. Repeat if necessary: It may take several flushes to fully clear the blockage.
Tip: Regularly cleaning the drain hole prevents recurring leaks.
