Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC sensor in fridge compartment, Damaged sensor wiring harness in cabinet liner, Corroded connector at main control board, Failed main control board temperature input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal wiring or control boards.
- Locate the fridge sensor: In Cecotec refrigerators, the fresh food NTC sensor is usually behind a small plastic cover on the rear interior wall or near the air outlet from the freezer.
- Visual inspection: Remove the cover and inspect the sensor and its wires. Look for cuts, pinched sections, or signs of moisture ingress.
- Check connector: Trace the sensor wires to the connector (often behind an interior panel or at the top of the cabinet). Ensure the connector is fully seated and not oxidized.
- Basic resistance check (optional): With the fridge unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. A typical NTC at room temperature is around 5–10 kΩ. A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace sensor if faulty: Order a Cecotec-compatible refrigerator compartment NTC sensor. Swap the sensor, routing the new wire along the original path and securing it away from moving parts or sharp edges.
- Reset and test: Restore power and allow 10–15 minutes. The E1 code should clear automatically if the sensor is detected correctly.
