Possible Causes
Defective freezer NTC sensor, Broken or shorted sensor wiring in foam insulation, Loose connector at main control board, Faulty ADC (analog-to-digital converter) on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing freezer panels.
- Access freezer sensor: Remove freezer drawers and the rear interior panel (evaporator cover). The freezer NTC sensor is typically clipped to the evaporator tubing or mounted on the rear wall.
- Inspect sensor and harness: Look for ice buildup around the sensor, damaged insulation, or broken wires. Carefully defrost any heavy ice with a hair dryer on low, keeping it away from plastic parts.
- Check connections: Follow the sensor wires to the connector. Ensure it is firmly connected and free of corrosion.
- Test sensor (optional): With the fridge unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to a known-good NTC curve if available; open or short readings indicate failure.
- Replace sensor: Install a Cecotec-compatible freezer NTC sensor. Clip it securely to the evaporator or bracket in the same position as the original.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the evaporator cover and drawers, restore power, and monitor if E2 clears and the freezer reaches set temperature.
