Possible Causes

Seized or blocked evaporator fan motor, Ice buildup around fan blades, Failed DC fan motor, Broken fan wiring or connector at main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing interior panels or touching the fan.

  • Access evaporator fan: Remove freezer drawers and the rear interior panel. The evaporator fan is mounted above or in front of the evaporator coil.
  • Check for ice obstruction: Look for ice around the fan housing and blades. If present, fully defrost the area using a hair dryer on low or by leaving the unit unplugged with doors open.
  • Spin test: Gently spin the fan blades by hand. They should rotate freely without grinding or resistance. If stiff or noisy, the motor is likely failing.
  • Inspect wiring: Ensure the fan connector is firmly attached and wires are not damaged.
  • Replace fan motor: If the motor is seized or has no continuity, install a Cecotec-compatible evaporator fan motor assembly. Transfer the fan blade if required.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the panel, restore power, and listen for the fan starting after a few minutes. E8 should clear once the control detects fan operation.
