Possible Causes
Loose wiring harness in freezer door, Failed ice maker module, Faulty dispenser control board, Damaged wire in door hinge area
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the household water supply to the refrigerator before working on ice or water components.
Steps:
- Inspect door harness: At the bottom hinge of the freezer door (on side-by-side models), gently pull back the boot or cover and inspect the wire harness for breaks or pinched wires. Repair or replace as needed.
- Check ice maker connections: Remove the ice bucket and inspect the ice maker module. Ensure the multi-pin connector is fully seated.
- Dispenser control: On models with a dispenser control board in the freezer door, remove the dispenser trim and check the board connections for corrosion or looseness.
- Reset power: After reseating connectors, restore power and see if the E6 code clears.
- Replace failed module: If wiring is intact but the code persists and the ice maker/dispenser is non-functional, replace the ice maker assembly or dispenser control board with Crosley-compatible parts.
