Possible Causes
Failed water inlet valve for ice maker circuit, Clogged inlet screen, Frozen fill tube, Low household water pressure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before working on the water system.
Steps:
- Check water supply: Verify that the saddle valve or shutoff valve to the refrigerator is fully open and that the supply line is not kinked.
- Inspect inlet valve: At the rear bottom of the refrigerator, locate the dual or triple water inlet valve. Disconnect the water line to the ice maker outlet and check for good flow when the valve is energized (this test is best done by a technician).
- Clean inlet screen: Turn off water, disconnect the main inlet line, and inspect the valve screen for sediment. Clean or replace the valve if clogged.
- Check fill tube: Inside the freezer, inspect the plastic fill tube above the ice maker for ice blockage. If frozen, thaw it with warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or similar tool.
- Replace valve if needed: If the valve coil is open (no continuity) or does not open when powered, replace the water inlet valve with a Crosley-compatible part.
