Possible Causes
Failed dispenser solenoid in water inlet valve, Frozen water reservoir or door line, Faulty dispenser switch or lever, Damaged door wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off water supply before disassembling dispenser or valve components.
Steps:
- Check for frozen lines: Feel the fresh food compartment water reservoir (often behind a lower crisper cover) and the door water line. If the compartment is too cold, adjust temperature settings slightly warmer and allow 24 hours.
- Inspect dispenser lever and switch: Remove the dispenser trim and check that the lever properly actuates the micro-switch. Replace the switch if it does not click or test for continuity when pressed.
- Test water flow at valve: Disconnect the dispenser outlet line at the valve and briefly energize the dispenser (with water supply on and power connected, best done by a technician). If water flows strongly here but not at the door, the line is blocked or frozen.
- Replace valve or switch: If the dispenser solenoid coil is open or the valve does not open, replace the water inlet valve. If the switch is faulty, replace the dispenser switch with a Crosley-compatible part.
