Possible Causes
Failed mechanical door switch, Misaligned door magnet and reed switch (on some models), Broken door switch wiring, Warped door gasket preventing full closure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing door switch assemblies.
Steps:
- Check door closure: Ensure the Crosley refrigerator doors close fully and are not obstructed by food items or shelves.
- Inspect gaskets: Look for torn or deformed door gaskets that prevent a tight seal. Warm and reshape minor warps with a hair dryer on low, taking care not to overheat.
- Locate door switch: Most models have a plunger-style switch in the door frame. Gently pry it out with a flat tool.
- Test switch: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the switch and test for continuity with a multimeter. The switch should change state (open/closed) when pressed.
- Replace if faulty: Install a Crosley-compatible door switch if it fails testing. Reconnect wiring and snap the switch back into place.
- For magnetic sensors: Verify that the door magnet is present and aligned with the frame sensor. Replace missing magnets or sensors as needed.
