Possible Causes
Stuck ice maker fill valve, Faulty ice maker module not shutting off fill, Misaligned ice maker, Incorrect water pressure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before servicing the ice maker or valve.
Steps:
- Inspect ice maker position: Ensure the ice maker is mounted level and firmly attached to the freezer wall. A tilted unit can cause overfilling.
- Check fill cup: Look at the fill cup at the back of the ice maker where water enters. Make sure it is not cracked or misaligned with the fill tube.
- Test water pressure: Excessive water pressure can cause overfill. Install a pressure regulator if household pressure is above manufacturer recommendations (typically 20–120 psi).
- Replace ice maker or valve: If the valve continues to leak when de-energized, replace the water inlet valve. If the ice maker continues to overfill despite a good valve and proper pressure, replace the ice maker assembly with a Crosley-compatible unit.
