Possible Causes
Failed internal NTC sensor, sensor pulled away from liner, damaged sensor wiring, defective control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before removing interior panels or accessing the control board.
Steps to address F1:
- Locate the sensor: In many Danby compact refrigerators and wine coolers, the sensor is behind a small plastic cover on the interior wall or attached to the evaporator plate.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Check for physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections at the sensor and control board.
- Test the sensor: Remove the sensor from the circuit and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the expected NTC value from the service documentation. Replace if out of range.
- Replace sensor: Install a new OEM Danby temperature sensor, routing wires as originally and securing the sensor firmly to the liner or evaporator.
- Control board check: If a new sensor does not clear F1, the control PCB may be defective and require replacement.
